Joshua Holzmann, hailing from the vibrant city of Milwaukee, is a Los Angeles-based artist whose creative journey fuses paint and collage into evocative narratives. With a keen interest in the historical and cultural weight of paint, Holzmann navigates this rich medium through the lens of his identity as an African American male. In a world increasingly aware of environmental impact, Holzmann embraces sustainability by transforming repurposed materials and everyday items from his own circle into powerful works of art.

Holding both a BFA from Art Center College of Design and an MFA from the University of California, Riverside, Holzmann’s artistry has graced notable venues including the Riverside Art Museum, Harriet and Kern Gallery, Nan Rae Gallery, Barbara and Art Culver Center for the Arts, and Phyllis Gill Gallery. His work is proudly featured in the permanent collection of the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. Beyond his studio practice, Holzmann contributes to the next generation of artists as an Associate Professor of Art at Art Center College of Design, where he continues to inspire and challenge the boundaries of contemporary art.
